Anybody have any car related CSB moments they would like to share? Over the summer while working at Enterprise I went out to my car to take a nap during my lunch break. My NA was parked right next to the entrance of the Ford dealership we were attached to. I was so tired I managed to fall asleep with the top down and WU TANG CLAN playing decently loud. Anybody who walked/drove by probably got a good chuckle from that.

The first time I drove through a restaurant (Taco Bell during driver's ed) I forgot I had to pay for my food. I nervously pulled up to the window in the massive Impala and extended my open hand, awkwardly brushing against the cashier's open hand, also extended. I stared at him for about 10 seconds before I realized I had forgotten something.

Wait, was going through a drive thru part of your driver's ed program?

It wasn't an official part of the curriculum, but I was out doing one of my supervised drives with the instructor and my driving partner said he was getting hungry, so the instructor told me to just go through a drive through. Pretty valuable training actually.

Oh alright hahaha

I'd never heard or thought of doing a drive-thru as part of driver's ed, but to be honest it makes total sense, given how often most people do that.

Mine was probably when my Neutral Safety Switch went bad in the 68 Montego and I had to start it with a screw driver jumping the power from the positive terminal to the starter wire.

The looks you get at a car show when you start your muscle car under the hood with a screw driver. Equal parts "Fix your car jackass" and "holy shit dude just hot jumped his car in the middle of a car show"

Yeah good call on the instructor's part. He was a super cool guy that had just been teaching driver's ed for like twenty years. He drove a tuned supercharged Jag that made like 480 hp or something too.

I hit an oil slick in an intersection in front of a bunch of cars, they saw a full 360 that led me into a ditch. Luckily I didn't hit anything and just drove out like I did it on purpose.

Literally everything that comes out of Aaron Brown's mouth is a CSB moment.

The clutch hydraulics were going out on my 91 Prelude while I was in college. I could get around fine clutchless shifting, but any time I had to completely stop it would take serious pumping to get back into first. This is Texas summer and the car's AC was inop so windows are down and with my fart cannon on the back my music was always turned up to 'noise complaint' loud.

Anyhow, I'm just on the outskirts of campus when I have to stop at a light, 'Too Young to Fall In Love" is blasting. Light turns green and all the cars dart around me as I'm pressurizing the clutch (10 or so second process). Few seconds after the "Not a woman but a whore" line plays something whacks the passenger side rear quarter. Turns out I was stopped right in front of those abortion protests with the fetus pictures. Apparently they thought I was making a statement or something and one of the students threw his Whataburger trash at me.

Working on the interior electrical in a 427 Stingray with 550 lb-ft of torque. 2.66 first gear, 3.90 rear. Had a Powermaster XS torque starter, which can start an 18:1 race motor as it puts out 200+ lb-ft of torque.

Other guy in the shop leans in to the car to check interior lights, accidentally blips the key too far. Shifter electrical is disconnected, so no neutral safety switch.

Guess who's standing between the car and the shop door? CM, that's who.

1.) I completely understand why 60's pedestrian safety rules were inadequate.

2.) An XS torque starter can really fire a fucking car forward rapidly.

That's not a bad idea either. Driver's ed should teach more of that easy-yet-necessary stuff, like how to jumpstart a car, how to check oil, and how to change a flat. It's amazing how the system seems to forget very important things in order to rush along the process so they can bring in more students and $$$.

Recently, I was driving a Nissan Leaf and forgot I disabled traction control to get out of the snow. I pulled up to a stop sign with some friends and wanted to show that electric cars can be fun, especially with torque.

I made quite the point of it, mashed the pedal assuming traction control has this (being lazy) and sat there spinning. Not even moving thanks to the slightly wet road....it continued for several seconds as I was frustrated.

Ha! I actually lived next to a clinic for 3 years. Eventually the jackass protesters figured out my girlfriend was visiting me and not the clinic and started leaving her alone. We reached an unspoken peace until I started letting my dog chew on the little plastic fetuses they threw at the women visiting the clinic. They didn't appreciate that too much.

This is less of a "cool story, bro" and more of a "lame claim to fame", but anyway:

My stepdad's mentor in the luxury auto sales buisness, Jerry Cotter, started out selling Lincolns in the mid '70s, switched over to caddy in the late '80s, and yeah, selling these types of cars in northeast jersey meant he had several....uh...."interesting" customers, but anyway, he sold a certain infamous black Lincoln that was all over the front pages in December '85 to Paul Castellano:
